The district headquarter of Kishanganj is gearing up to host first of its kind festival i.e Seemanchal International Literary Festival (SILF) in the region on 17th & 18th November, 2016. This could be possible due to brilliant effort of 'son of soil' Mr. Zafar Anjum, a Singapore-based journalist, writer, publisher and filmmaker hailing from Kishanganj. Since its announcement the festival is getting wholesome response from the literary fraternity around India as well as abroad. As of now, at least 20 coveted authors / writers have given their consent to attend the glittering SILF, and the organisers are looking ahead for a grant success of the programme. P N Balji (Singapore), Ziya Us Salam (India), Milee Ashwarya (India), Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani (UK), Shafey Kidwai (India), Anant (India), Dr. Nazia Hasan (India), Dr. Debotri Dhar (USA), Rahman Abbas (India), Jayanthi Sankar (Singapore), Isa Kamari (Singapore), Rheea Mukherjee (India) and Abha Iyengar (India) are the prominent speakers of SILF.
About Zafar Anjum
Born in a small village on the fringes of Kishanganj town, Zafar studied at Insan School. After studying at AMU, Aligarh, JNU and IIMC, New Delhi, he moved to Singapore which has now become his second home. Zafar writes in multiple genres and is the author of 7 books, including many bestsellers such as The Resurgence of Satyam, Startup Capitals: Discovering Global Hotspots of Innovation and Iqbal: The Life of a Poet, Philosopher and Politician—all three published by Random House India. His collections of short stories include The Singapore Decalogue, and Kafka in Ayodhya, which were published in Singapore. Zafar is a well-known name in Indian and Southeast Asian literary circles. He sits on the advisory board of Kumaon Literary Festival and has been invited to speak at Singapore Literary Festival and Hyderabad Literary Festival. Zafar is the founder of a media and publishing company, Kitaab International Pte Ltd, Singapore, which is supporting SILF.
